BON TON

Bon ton is a 3-day gastronomy festival dedicated to “Good Taste” and “Good Practice” around the theme of food and wine in Mediterranean area. The exhibition, hosted of the harbor of “Castellammare del Golfo” (near Trapani), focused on a series of degustations, entertainments and a large variety of workshops dedicated to the great bluefin tuna and Sicilian cuisine.

Will be held in June (exactly 25th-27th June): we have spoken about the Habuor of“Castellammare  del Golfo”, but the exposition takes place in renowned venues also, as “Favignana tuna” and “Bonagia tuna”. Tourists will have the opportunity to try many menu, based on bluefin tuna, and they can also participate in wine tasting, take courses about sensory analysis or take part in degustations of extra virgin olive oil.

People will, also, has the opportunity to meet producers, see the phases of tuna processing and preparation of traditional Sicilian cuisine.

To complete the event, there are several seminars with expert nutritionists, local history buffs and journalists that will guide tourists and visitors to discover the organoleptic properties of bluefin tuna,the history of Sicilian cuisine, the best advices of how prepare and cook this particular kind of tuna.

Well aware of environmental issues, the focus of this exhibition is, also, the need to protect bluefin tuna from the risk of extinction and the support of more “conscious” fishing that should conceptually redefine its contents.

Bonton, synonym of good manners, becomes a showcase of Good Practice, an ideal laboratory in Good Taste for a new study aimed at preserving fish stocks in our seas, without sacrificing the pleasures of the table.

Bonton then continues on its way to meet, and exchange knowledge between the various Mediterranean cultures, the experience of the fishermen and restaurant owners, whose ideas could be compared with others, thus emphasizing the event’s international dimension.
